I would have liked to have given this book a higher score. As a bibliophile, who enjoyed this book greatly, it seems a shame to give it an average score. However, in many ways this is an average book. There is a good reason why I am bothering to review and recommend this novel - I really really enjoyed it.
Forget the whiter-than-whiteness of the lead female role. Ignore the predictable twists in the plot, which might have been genuinely surprising if penned by Jeffery Deaver or John Connelly. Focus instead on the battle of wills between an ill-educated young woman from Hicksville and an erudite, psychopathic, master of disguise, criminal mastermind, from New York. With a likeable supporting cast, this is an entertaining thriller.
