Is it just the criminally insane
and those with issues stealing their thoughts
who sit at tables in coffee shops
scribbling in notepads?

Is it just the scared and lonely
escaping the world, living on paper
who sit at tables in coffee shops
pencils in their hands?

Do the staff in coffee shops,
seeing the customer, lost in thought
sitting at his table, writing away,
sigh : "here's another one"?

I hope not.
