Making a meal of it | home > backlash |
Went out for a meal this evening. I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The fact that the entire restaurant was non-smoking was a joy. The service was polite and efficient. They even had someone discreetly wandering the length of the room in order to be called on by customers, if needed. The price was exceedingly good value. The decor was fantastic. I felt a desire to tip.
The only thing that let it down was the sodding music - or Muzak if you like. A Kenny G wannabee, playing instrumental versions of cliche hits of the past two decades, including such favourites as "Titanic", "Careless Whisper" and "Arthur's Theme", drilled into my sub-conscious throughout the evening.
Still, I enjoyed myself - next time, I'll just have to take earplugs.
