MEMORANDUM
From : Friend Industrial Products Plc - not just your employer, your
friend in workplace.
To : All staff
Regarding : the new coffee making facilities
Since we had the new cappuccino maker installed, there have been a number of
irregularities. We wish to confirm the rules and operating instructions for the
use of this machine. We hope that all employees will enjoy using the machine for
their coffee drinks.
Using the machine
- Ensure that the water tank is at pressure by checking the dial on the back
of the machine. This dial is located underneath the power cord in the far
corner.
- Take the metal filter basket over to the bean grinder and dispense coffee
grounds into it. Be sure not to press the dispense button more than twice
since this will make your drink too strong. Be careful to hold the basket
directly under the nozzle to avoid spillage.
- Immediately top up the bean grinder with beans - the grinder only holds
500ml of beans and will run out quickly if left.
- Take the metal jug and fill it to the line with milk. You should only use
semi-skimmed milk for this. Do not overfill the milk jug or you will have
too much liquid to fit in the standard sized mugs. You will find the milk in
the fridge in the white transparent plastic containers.
- Place the milk jug under the steam-arm and then raise until the steam arm
touches the bottom of the jug. Turn the steam knob until the steam starts to
bubble through the milk.
- When the milk is hot, lower the jug a little until a froth starts to form.
Turn off the steam before it gets too frothy. Be careful not to lower the
jug too much or spillage will occur.
- Attach the filter basket to the espresso part of the machine.
- Position the espresso shot glass under the nozzle of the filter basket and
press the green button on the front of the machine. This is the only button
on the front of the machine.
- While the espresso is pouring into the shot glass, check that no leakage
is occurring.
- When the shot glass has been filled, pour the milk into your mug and then
the contents of the shot glass.
- Before taking your drink back to your desk, please:
- Clean the shot glass - with hot soapy water
- Clean the filter basket - with hot water, no detergent and a soft brush
- Clean the milk jug - with lukewarm soapy water
- Empty the drip trays under the espresso shot glass and the bean grinder
- wash with warm water
- Wipe down all surfaces
- Wrap a towel around the steam arm, let out some steam and then wipe the
towel along the arm's length a few times.
Sprinkles
You have a choice of chocolate or cinammon sprinkles on your drink.
Unfortunately, both of these are on order at the moment and neither are
available. Please do not use the drinking chocolate in lieu of legitimate
sprinkles
Booking
Due to the lengthy process of making your refreshing drinks, there is a booking
procedure. You will only be able to make a maximum of six cappuccinos in the
working week, with no more than two allowed in the same day. Please contact the
company secretary for booking information.
Enjoy the new drinks maker.
