When haircuts go wrong!

Now I have a nifty wee camera phone I can capture the evil doings of the apostrophe abusers as and when I notice them. I saw this show in the centre of Newcastle yesterday:

What have they done there? What is the name of the shop? Something about the root of the follicles, perhaps. The plural of "root" is "roots" - so why the apostrophe? Does the shop belong to Mr Root? Did he decide to become a hairdresser as a play on his own name?

No.

It's a bad hair day if I ever saw one.
